Eligibility Criteria for Civil Engineering

If a student wants to have a career in Civil Engineering then he/she should have to pursue an undergraduate engineering program (BTech) upon successful completion, students can decide to pursue a job or pursue a postgraduation course in the same stream. Certain colleges also offer a Diploma in Civil Engineering.

Diploma in Civil Engineering

Many institutes are offering a two-year diploma course in civil engineering.

Eligibility

Students must have completed class X or an equivalent exam with a minimum of 45 per cent marks. Science and Math, both of which are compulsory subjects. The students must also have had English as one of their subjects.

BTech Civil Engineering

It is a four-year full-time undergraduate program, split into 8 semesters.

Eligibility

Candidates should have completed the 10+2 (or equivalent) examination from any recognised state or central board, with Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

Exams for entrance are required to be accepted into the BTech program. They include JEE Main as well as JEE Advanced. MHCET is another exam.

MTech in Civil Engineering

It’s a two-year post-graduation, full-time program.

Eligibility

Students must hold a BTech degree and have a minimum passing rate for the totalization of all courses in the undergraduate course.

Admissions are determined by the GATE score merit list.

Top Civil Engineering Entrance Exams

Many colleges that offer Civil Engineering programs accept students who have passed the National or state-level engineering exams. Many colleges have their entrances to BTech courses.

Students who are considering engineering admissions should look into these aspects:

  • JEE Main
  • JEE Advanced
  • GATE
  • BITSAT
  • MHT CET
  • KCET

Civil Engineering courses

The Civil Engineering curriculum in India could differ among universities, colleges and institutes. The basic principles of the course are the same.

AICTE stipulates that students must have 150-160 credits to qualify for an Undergraduate degree in Engineering. A further 20 credits are required to be eligible for Undergraduate degrees with Honours, or additional Minor Engineering. They can be obtained via MOOCs”.
