Three Ashra’s of Ramadan

Ramadan is the blissful month of the Islamic Lunar Calendar. It is observed all over the world and people fast from sunrise to sunset. In this month, the Quran was revealed on Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W) thus, Muslims fully commemorate this holy month. Fasting is a ritual that turns the heart away from materialistic pursuits in order to cleanse the spirit by liberating it from bad and destructive actions. Ramadan is the perfect time to work on self-improvement, self-control, discipline, and empathy in order to encourage charitable activities (Zakat) to those who need them. Muslims really like spending this sanctified month in front of the Kaaba by performing Umrah, therefore, Muslims acquire Ramadan Umrah packages in order to fulfill this desire.

Based on moon sightings, Ramadan lasts for 29 to 30 days, and Allah (SWT) has divided this magnificent month into 3 sections also known as Ashra’s. Ashra is an Arabic term that signifies “10 days.” The first component symbolizes Allah’s kindness, the second half indicates Allah’s forgiveness, as well as the third part, indicates Allah’s protection from hell. Allah Almighty is merciful, and Ramadan is His month of kindness and forgiveness, during which Muslims can seek shelter from Hell for their crimes and prohibited activities. The best way to experience the actual spirit of Ramadan is to do as much Zikr as possible.

Three Ashra’s of Ramadan

The following mentioned are the 3 sections in which Ramadan is divided and three of them hold great importance in Islam:

First Ashra of Ramadan (Rehmat)

Ramadan commences with the ashra, which represents prosperity and benefits. This sacred month gets off with a fantastic start. In this ashra, one should solicit compassion from the Lord and worship him as much as possible. Extending the same compassion to other Muslims is a terrific way to get into the true essence of Ramadan. The goal of the 1st Ashra is to practice being empathetic to your fellows by:

  • The ¾ Regulating your anger, you may show respect and kindness to others.
  • Now ¾ Giving charity as it is the most beloved deed of Allah Almighty.
  • ¾ Helping others with your full heart.

Dua for 1st Ashra

O! My Lord forgive and have Mercy and You are the Best of Merciful (Quran, 23:118)

Second Ashra of Ramadan (Maghfirah)

The hallowed month of Ramadan’s mid-ten days is known as the days of forgiveness. In the 2nd Ashra, Allah Almighty has urged every responsible creation (human and Jinn) to admit their misdeeds and seek redemption from Almighty Allah, as well as promise not to commit them in the future. These are Maghfirah days and nights, and Allah’s mercy is at its greatest in the middle of Ramadan. He blesses just those who prostrate in front of Him with a broken heart and vow not to repeat the same thing ever.

Do Tauba because Allah appreciates those who apologize for their transgressions, and He is the only one who can pardon. Also, be kind and forgive others. When you are begging Allah’s pardon in this Ashra, ensure you do the exact thing for others by embracing a similar attribute of your Lord and forgiving them for all their willful faults.

Dua for second Ashra is:

“I ask forgiveness of my sins from Allah who is my Lord and I turn towards Him”.

Third Ashra of Ramadan (Nijaat)

The third and last Ashra of Ramadan is by far the most devout and holds a unique relevance and value. That’s because two significant occurrences in the Islamic era and humanity happened in the final Ashra of the Divine Month of Ramadan. The first one is “Laylat-ul-Qadr,” a night when the words of the Holy Qur’an were revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The second reason is Juma’t-ul-Wida (the last Friday of the Holy Month of Ramadan).

Another significant aspect of this Ashra is Itikaf which Muslims observe by staying in isolation and worshipping Allah Almighty with full devotion.

Dua for the 3rd Ashra:

“O Allah, you are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me”.

Importance of Laylat-ul-Qadr

The Laylat-ul-Qadr is a night when the Holy Book “Al-Qur’an” verses appeared on the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This night is said to be better than thousands of previous nights. As per the Islamic literature. This night provides tremendous devotion and strength. In order to get connected to Allah Almighty. It is said to occur on the 27th of Ramadan and might be found on the odd nights of the final Ashra of Ramadan.

Virtues of Jummat-ul-Wida

Jummah-Tul-Wida is a gift from Almighty Allah for those who believe. It is the holiest and most blessed day in hundreds of years. That’s the last Friday of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month. As a result, this last Ashra is extremely important to pay special attention. To and seek forgiveness in order to remain close to Almighty Allah
