Some Facts About Invisalign You Should Know Before Getting Treatment

There are so many treatments for crooked teeth and smile out there; however, Invisalign stands out as one of them. There may be things you may or may not know about Invisalign. For starters, Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that is well known among UK dentists and patients for its unique ability to straighten teeth in a convenient and barely noticeable manner, unlike what you get from traditional braces.

With London Invisalign braces, you can be sure of having a treatment that is a perfect fit for your teeth, barely noticeable, and will produce an amazing result in the shortest possible time. What’s more? You can take out Invisalign aligners anytime you need to eat and clean your teeth; something that is not achievable with traditional braces.

This post aims to share with you some useful professional advice and information you should know before getting Invisalign treatment, particularly if you’re interested in it. Have you got a smile you are not proud of? Then this piece is for you. Do read on.

How does Invisalign work?

This specially designed orthodontic treatment is made such that the trays exert the appropriate amount of pressure on the right places on your teeth, at the right time, to move them according to the prearranged result you want to achieve. A unique material known as SmartTrack is used in producing the trays. This enables the wearer to feel more comfortable knowing that the aligners are perfectly trimmed to fit the gum line to cause zero irritation and give a beautifully clear appearance when you smile.

There are other treatments, why Invisalign?

As a better alternative to traditional braces, this treatment is highly sought at our practice. We have treated a lot of patients with Invisalign, and they’ve been satisfied because:

  • Invisalign aligners are easy to remove
  • Clear trays are nearly invisible
  • They are easy to carry about
  • They are very comfortable to put on since there are no metal brackets or wires

Besides, you can eat any food you want with Invisalign. This is possible since you can remove the aligners.

Our Invisalign procedure

Just like every orthodontic work, your jawbone density has to be strong enough before treatment. So, our specialist will first check that your bone and dental health is sound. If you have any special complaint and what you wish to achieve, this will also be discussed. We will clinically examine your condition, take X-rays and pictures to plan your customised treatment. Here at Cosmetic Dentistry Clinic, we have the latest digital scanning technology to take scans of your teeth and mouth, so you don’t have to worry about getting any inaccurate impression like the way it used to be before now.

Using this, a personalised treatment plan will be created for you, and it will give you an idea of the teeth movement. This can be evaluated during your second appointment.

Upon commencement of treatment, you will try as much as possible to wear your aligners for at least 20 to 22 hours every day. You can only take them out to eat, drink, brush, and floss.

Every 7 to 14 days, you will have to put on a new aligner until you get the results you need. Of course, you won’t be alone in all this; your dentist will closely monitor your progress at each stage of teeth movement to see that the aligners are sitting well and moving your teeth according to plan. This is achieved during monthly dental visits.

For iGO (front teeth cosmetic changes), the duration for treatment usually 6 to 9 months.  Full Invisalign treatment takes 12 to 18 months. Bear in mind that after treatment, there is a plan to maintain the position of your new teeth and smile as the chances are that your teeth might relapse (return to its crooked condition) after orthodontic treatment. This is why patients make use of retainers after Invisalign.
