It can be challenging to accept that we will be tested. So, when we experience any suffering in our lives—at our job, in our marriages, at school, etc.—it becomes challenging to maintain our patience and simply to give up. Either you look for a solution to the problem, or you give up. But when you take a moment to comprehend and embrace Islam’s view of patience, you flip the script and approach your difficulties from a fresh perspective.

Why am I being tested?

No matter their purity level, everyone who has publicly professed their belief in Allah (SWT) will be tested, as stated in the ayah above. So, the first quality of patience is to keep in mind that a believer is tested whenever you go through life challenges.

In his lifetime, the Prophet Muhammad (saw) lost all but one of his children. He knew that Fatimah was about to pass away even as he was. He had to leave his Makah home, lost his parents at a young age, and lost his loving wife, Khadijah.

The Prophet (saw) displayed as much patience as he could in the face of difficulties that would shake any person to their very core. “The eyes weep tears, and the heart is grieved, and we shall not say unless what pleases our Lord,” he stated following the death of his son Ibrahim.

Adapting to difficulties

First, accepting your difficulties is not the same as giving up. Accepting a disease, for instance, entails realizing that it is a test for you, whereas giving up entails forgoing medical care and pleading with Allah (SWT) for a cure.

And maintain your patience, for Allah would not allow the reward to expire.

During the lifetime of the holy Prophet (saw), a woman experienced epileptic seizures. Every time this occurred, she would remove her clothing in front of everyone. She went to the Prophet of Allah (saw) to request that he pray to Allah (SWT) for a cure for her illness.

But what did he (what she witnessed) say? If you like, wait patiently, and you will reach Paradise; alternatively, if you so desire, I will petition Allah to heal you.

Because she decided to exercise patience, the Prophet (saw) referred to her as a woman of Janna.

She undoubtedly still had the illness, but she decided to be patient and persistent, and as a result, she received the best compensation a Muslim could hope for.

Managing Trials in a Positive Manner

Tragic events are the predominant form of trials. Look at those who have suffered the loss of a spouse,

Many of us are remind to turn to Allah by hardships (SWT). Instead of succumbing to hopelessness and skepticism when faced with challenges, use that time to grow closer to Allah (SWT).

Increase your Salah offering, recitation, and Qur’an recitation. Your supplication might provide a solution to the problem, or Allah (SWT) might pardon some of your sins and elevate you in status.

Recall the severe agony Aaliyah, the wife of Pharaoh, endured at the hands of her husband and his men. Even as she was on the verge of death, she begged Allah (SWT) to provide a place for her close to Him, and Allah (SWT) immediately before her death showed her a position in Janna.

She might have crumbled beneath the strain of the Pharaoh’s punishment. Instead of clinging to her trust in Allah, she may have referred to her husband as a god (as he desired) (SWT). However, she prayed to Allah in her final moments when she was on trial (SWT).

Consider the Benefit

A Muslim never experiences suffering other than the forgiveness of his sins; as the holy Prophet (saw) once observed, “The greatest recompense comes with the greatest trial.” Allah puts His loved ones to the test. Anyone who accepts that gains His approval, but anyone who rejects that earns His anger.

As we go through a trial, keeping in mind the potential reward makes us even more patient. The epileptic woman consented when the holy Prophet advised her to be patient and work for Janna. Act morally

We might never perform any nice things if we had to wait until our lives were perfect before starting. It is wise to be kind to others while going through our trials. If we can focus less on ourselves and aid those less fortunate than us, we can gain Allah’s mercy (SWT).

Even though you may require a job with a higher salary, some live in poverty and go without food. Their situation is worse than yours. Giving to them could have more positive effects on your life than you might think.

Islam does not advocate giving up and accepting defeat, nor does it suggest that we should believe that Allah (SWT) is putting us through a test because he dislikes us.

Companionship with the Qur’an in Ramadan

Qur’an month is Ramadan. Qur’an was revealed to help humans discern right from wrong. The Qur’an says:

“In Ramadan, the Qur’an was revealed as a guidance for mankind and a criterion (between right and wrong).”

The Qur’an should be our constant companion, not simply during Ramadan. We should consult the Qur’an for advice just as we would a close friend. If we read the Qur’an with insight, we can solve all of humanity’s issues. If we make the Qur’an our companion here, it will be our companion on Judgment Day and bring us and our parent’s honor. Our online Quran academy is providing the facility to learn Quran with competent online Quran teacher through online Quran teaching on Skype.

He said:

“On the Day of Resurrection, the Qur’an will meet its companion, a pallid man. It’ll ask, ‘Recognize me?’ “I don’t recognize you,” he’ll say. It will say, “I am your friend, the Qur’an, who kept you thirsty and alert.” Today, you will gain from your nice deeds. He will be given power in his right hand, an eternity in his left, a crown of grandeur, and his parents clothed in priceless robes. Why are we wearing this? Because your son recited Qur’an.

Prophet, Sahaba, and Salaf

The Prophet (PBUH) and the Sahaba spent Ramadan reciting Qur’an. Prophet (PBUH) recited Qur’an to Jibra’il (AS). Uthman Ibn Affan (RA) recited one Qur’an daily. Abu Qatadah (RA) normally completed the Qur’an every seven nights, but in Ramadan, he did it every three nights and every night for the last ten days.

Some salaf completed the Qur’an during their stay and every three nights, some every seven or ten. Az-Zuhri left his study groups during Ramadan to recite the Qur’an.

Practical strategies to build Qur’an companionship:

Don’t skim or speed-read the Qur’an

Some Muslims read the Qur’an three times, sometimes without following Tajweed guidelines. Some recite too little Qur’an. Reciting the Qur’an accurately and sweetly bears a high reward, multiplied throughout Ramadan.

The Qur’an has 20-page chapters. If you read four pages of the Qur’an after every Salah, you can finish one chapter daily in Ramadan. Each Qur’an chapter is 40 pages; thus, you can read eight pages after every Salah.

Understand Qur’an

  • Try to finish the Qur’an once with understanding (using translations if you don’t know Arabic).
  • Each verse is like a date: the more you chew it, the sweeter it becomes.
  • Our Qur’an is a marvel. It can change our life, as it did for the Sahaba, who became world rulers. Without comprehension, we lose the Qur’an’s guidance, sweetness, and marvels.

Family Qur’an time

Engage your family in the Qur’an study. Study the Qur’an with your spouse and kids. This will bring you barakah and teach your children righteousness.

When a congregation gathers to remember Allah, angels surround them (with their wings), (Allah’s) mercy envelops them, Sakinah descends upon them, and Allah mentions them to those near Him. [Muslim].

Tafaseer Qur’an

While driving, cooking, or doing other activities, play Qur’an recitation and Tafseer (interpretation) in the background. This will keep you with the Qur’an. I once saw a mother getting an IV. While in the hospital, she taught her 6-year-old daughter the Tafseer of Surah Burooj. We can always find time for Qur’an.

Qur’an memorization

Memorize Juz Amma every day (Chapter 30). You can recite a different Surah in each prayer and longer ones in Taraweeh and Tahajjud. More Qur’an memorized means a higher status in Paradise.

Memorize Salah Surah and Azkar translations

Salah is worship and communication with Allah (SWT). In a hadith Quds, the Prophet (PBUH) said that prayer is like a conversation between Allah and his slave; when an enslaved person recites Surah Fatiha, Allah (SWT) replies.

“When a servant prays properly, he rises to Allah with rays like the sun and exclaims, “May Allah maintain you as you have preserved me.” If it were lax and lazy, it would be wrapped up like an old garment and used to hit its performer’s face while crying, “May Allah waste you as you have wasted me!”
