The Fate series is no longer an underground property. While it began in 2003 as an erotic visual novel under the title Fate/stay-night. The captivating concept behind TYPE-MOON’s world. The characters has since gone on to be the basis for a variety of sequels spinoffs, adaptations, and spinoffs. The Problem with the Fate Series in Anime
The major issue with the Fate series is the fact that the original graphic novel, called Fate/stay Night, isn’t legally accessible in the west.

Route 1: The Purist

For purists like me, the Fate series must be experienced this way. Why? It’s not just chronological, but is also an exact mirror of the original story. This is crucial because of the triangular nature of the narrative.
Fate/stay-nightis, like many visual novels, consists of three distinct routes. Unlimited Blade Works on Rin, Fate route, and Heaven’s feel. As with most visual novel they are focused on three different female characters. Fate on Saber, Unlimited Blade Works on Rin and Heaven’s Fel on Sakura.
Studio DEEN’s adaptation from 2006 is the only one on the list which attempts to alter the Fate path. However, it doesn’t do just this but also includes elements from both Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven’s Feel, meaning that things are muddled somewhat. It’s both an inept adaptation of the First Arc and a great way to spoil what comes later, despite its outdated graphics.
It’s a pity because If you head straight into Studio Ufotable’s 2014 or 2015 versions of Unlimited Blade Works. Uou’ll likely miss the growth and development of one of the series’ most beloved characters. Saber is one of the most famous characters in Fate and has given her the name “Saberface.’ She’s great and everyone knows it. Since Unlimited Blade Works focuses on Rin there’s no mention of Saber’s progress in this article.
Unlimited Blade Works, in my opinion, is the top series of routes in terms of ideas and execution. However , it works more effectively when played with the other three. That brings me to the second section The Fate/stay night’s three main routes is a spring board to the other in the sense that Fate being the “introductory” story, and Unlimited Blade Works being the ‘backside’ of that. Heaven’s Feel, which is an entire variation of the structure, is, therefore, the most risky place to begin.
Without a competent Fate route adaptation and a competent Fate route adaptation, the Fate series doesn’t quite function exactly the same way as anime. This is the reason why the guide was designed with these issues in mind. For the reason that Fate/Zero was set at the conclusion this section, the following one will provide an explanation.

Perhaps the most controversial aspect of the way Purists watch the Fate series is the choice to place Zero/Fate at the ending and Fate/stay-night at the beginning. It’s now considered to be a common usage to begin with Zero and leave out the night entirely. While this method has its advantages, it also has some issues.
While Fate/stay night may look and sound quite dated these days, it delivers vital information about the character of Saber which isn’t present in the other versions. The character of Saber has already been explained.
In stark contrast, Zero was praised as one of the top-quality series ever created at the time it premiered. In my opinion, this is still true in the present. While ufotable’s production techniques specifically with regard to the use of 3D has certainly advanced since then, it’s hard to say that Zero isn’t a stunningly beautiful show. Even now scenes like Saber unleashing Excalibur towards the conclusion of the first season give me goosebumps.

Yet, Zero is not the best to start watching the Fate series. What’s the reason? In simple terms, the first light novel by Gen Urobuchi (that the series is based upon) was written before the original novel was first released and relies on some background knowledge: while this isn’t in any way related to relate to the magic system or the Holy Grail War (the series does an excellent job of explaining this in the first episodes) however, the connection between the series and the original tale will be difficult to grasp for first-time viewers.
A large part of the power of Fate/Zero’s lies in the way it fills in the blanks left by the original Fate/stay night visual novel, such as how the Fourth Holy Grail war was not completed and how Gilgamesh could somehow remain unrequited. The satisfaction of uncovering these answers only is if you’re aware there are questions in the first beginning! The place of Heaven’s Fel in the final section was clarified in the earlier section.
