The question arises, is OLED & led the same? No, despite its name looking similar, OLED is fundamentally different from an LED. Let’s look for it!
WHAT IS LED
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor device that emits light when an electric current flows through it. When current passes through an LED, the electrons recombine with holes emitting light in the process. LEDs allow the current to flow in the forward direction and block the current in the reverse direction Light-emitting diodes are heavily doped p-n junctions. Based on the semiconductor material used and the amount of doping, an LED will emit a colored light at a particular spectral wavelength when forward biased. As shown in the figure, an LED is encapsulated with a transparent cover so that emitted light can come out. they mostly find applications in devices that show the time and display different types of data. An LED TV with a good internet connection, required streaming devices & an app store can be a worth it product. To date LED smart TVs, and their capability is increasingly in the mainstream. The functions of a LED smart TV are available in set-top boxes made by Apple, Roku, and others.

LED signs for advertising or “digital billboards” need to be bright, and built-in to withstand any weather and temperature conditions. Pixel pitch, the type of LEDs whether SMD or DIP, the dimensions all depend on on-site as well as practical and financial requirements. The LED displays with hardware, software, and other things, are there to entertain and to update spectators afore, during, and after the national & international games played at the stadium. LED displays are considered multidimensional for their great variety that gives you a variety of experiences.
WHAT IS OLED
OLED is an organic light-emitting diode which is a light-emitting diode in which the emissive electroluminescent layer is a film of organic compound that emits light in response to an electric current. This organic layer is situated between two electrodes; typically, at least one of these electrodes is transparent. OLEDs are used to create digital displays in devices such as television screens, computer monitors, and portable systems such as smartphones and handheld game consoles. A major area of research is the development of white OLED devices for use in solid-state lighting applications.
APPLICATIONS OF OLED
OLEDs are used today in various digital devices like smartphones, digital cameras, headsets, tablets, desktops, and smart TVs. In 2021, over 500 OLED screens were produced to meet the ever-increasing demand from such sectors. The leading OLED producer is Samsung Display, and most premium phones today adopt either rigid or flexible OLED displays – including those from Apple, Samsung, Oppo, Sony, and others. Non-OLED TVs are made of two main parts: An LCD panel and a backlight. The LCD panel contains the pixels, the little colored dots that make up a TV’s image.
